Welcome Lower Lights Ministries as a Partner Organization

We are proud to announce Lower Lights Ministries as our fourth Partner Organization which will be providing a worksite for one of our participants.

Motivated by the love of God, the mission of Lower Lights Ministries is to promote the development and well-being of individuals, families and the community of Franklinton by partnering together as loving neighbors. Their vision is to see The Franklinton community holistically restored into a thriving neighborhood with Christians fully engaged in the process of transformation. Lower Lights achieves this mission through family mentoring, tutoring, financial skills training, revitalizing housing stock, and numerous other offerings.

There is the potential for the participant placed at Lower Lights to work in one of three areas with the organization.

1. Development Intern

The intern will be responsible for Grants research and writing which includes a thorough understanding of Lower Lights Ministries’ programs. Secondarily, the intern will be a communications assistant, writing copy for social media interaction; email communication and web development. Development Intern.Confluence

2. Technology Specialist

The intern will be responsible for website development, PC hardware and software support, end user support, and developing system maintenance. Technology Specialist (1)

3. Administrative Assistant

The Administrative Assistant provides support for the Management Team, including the CEO, Director of Volunteer Services and Director of Development. LLM Administrative Assistant Technology Specialist (1)

Welcome the Franklinton Development Association as a Partner Organization!

Confluence is proud to introduce our newest Partner Organization, the Franklinton Development Association. The Franklinton Development Association (FDA) is a not-for-profit community development corporation designated with the task of providing housing and economic opportunities to the people of Franklinton.  Made up of residents and community leaders, FDA strives to find equitable solutions to the problems that  our neighborhood must address. The FDA will provide a dynamic worksite for one of our participants.

Projects Assistant


The Projects Assistant will support FDA’s implementation of its seasonal projects, development projects, and outreach efforts.  Activities will include administrative support, social media management, and research and reporting.  Download the full Position Description here. FDA – Projects Assistant

Welcome Nationwide Children’s Hospital as a Partner Organization

Confluence is proud to announce that Nationwide Children’s Hospital will be one of our five partner organizations for the 2013 – 2014 Confluence Year. They will be providing a dynamic job that will couple policy development with after school programming which will allow the volunteer the opportunity to understand the administrative and relational aspects of obesity prevention.

General Description:

The Confluence Volunteer for Population Health will assist with the development, administration and implementation of community based and population health promotion and disease prevention strategies within Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s priority geographic area.  The Confluence Volunteer for Population Health should have an interest in social determinants of health solutions, coordination and linkages among multiple sectors, and working within a diverse population.  Responsibilities will include exposure to a breadth of interventions ranging from after-school programming to policy development.

The Program Assistant is primarily responsible for supporting the implementation of Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus’ Program, Development and Volunteer activities, including administrative support of program activities, special events, grant management, communications and marketing and volunteer management.

Confluence Featured in Columbus Dispatch

Confluence was proud to partner with the Ohio State University as a host site for their Martin Luther King Day of Service. Ten volunteers from the engineering department came to Franklinton and helped paint the Hospitality House, which will be the home for the five interns joining the program this August.
